Carara National Park Tour

Carara National Park is located near the Pacific coast of Costa Rica, about 25 miles north of the beach town of Jaco and Los Suenos

Largest remaining populations of wild macaws in the country.

The park protects the Tarcoles River basin near Orotina, which is home to one of the largest remaining populations of wild macaws in the country. It also contains more primary Costa Rican rainforest than the relatively nearby Manuel Antonio National Park.

Carrara's dense tree cover makes it a haven for many species of birds, making the park a popular bird-watching destination. Your certified guide will point out species ranging from exotic macaws, as well as orange-throated parrots and other parrots, hummingbirds, woodpeckers, motomots, jacamals, manakins, antbirds, and several species of harriers, including the black-throated harrier.

The park is also home to several species of waterfowl, these include the anhinga, several species of heron and the kingfisher. Reptiles found within the park include American alligators, as well as several species of snakes and lizards. Amphibians include green and black poison dart frogs. Mammals include white-tailed deer, redfish, necked peccaries, agoutis, kinkajous, white-tailed capuchins, howler monkeys, Hoffmann's sloths, and long-throated sloths. However, it can be difficult to see mammals due to the dense forest.

Carara National Park's amazing wildlife awaits you.
